Te-Mahia & Takanini Train Stations

City: Auckland
Architect: Jasmax
Construction Company: Libbett Construction
Completed: October 2018

When the main contractor required a professional installation partner to pull off a tricky project at the Takanini & Mahi Train stations, Libbett turned to Insite Facades.

Insite coupled with the combined horsepower of the Thermosash group have been designing and engineering ACM panel for over 30 years.

Tight acute radius angles, stiffeners and internal brackets are no problem for our team, allowing us to focus on adhering to rigid safety processes set by the client.

Planning the installation and designing the details prior to commencement, allowed Insite to overcome the complexities and safety constraints of working on a KiwiRail platform project.

The pre-planning and attention to detail turned out to be critically important to both Insite and Libbett, as this was the first track-side install for both teams.

With over 100 train movements per day on both the Takanini and Te Mahia train stations, the installation project team set-about fabricating as much of the panel as possible off-site, which mean less disruption overall.  Crowded platforms and down-tool calls allowing express trains to pass through meant installation hours were tight and limiting.

Despite these challenges, Insite managed to complete the project on time. A supportive Libbett project team and professional safety plan, together with spotters from Kiwi Rail kept all parties safe.
